Is an employed spouse entitled to benefits if made redundant

Both myself and my husand are self employed. If I was to become an employee of my husband and at some stage down the road, became redundant, would I be entitled to benefits. We have both been self employed for 12-14 years but looking ahead with the current encomic climate, we wonder if it would be better that one is employed in the PAYE.

AFAIK, SW benefits are based on earning 2 years previous, so you would need to keep the show on the road for at least two years. Talk to your accountant.

AFAIK the answer is no.

To be entitled to JSB you would have to have paid A-class PRSI - a spouse employed by their spouse would not be an A-class employment.
