Irish Pension after long period of stay-at-home parenting

Hi

My wife is about to start a new job in September after never having worked here in Ireland before (we moved from UK to Ireland in 2005 and she's been full-time parent since then). One of the reasons to do this is to get some pension credits in the Irish system (she's just over 50).

She has about 10 years NI credits from the UK from when we lived there up until ~2003 when she stopped full-time work.

We understand there's a provision in the Irish pension contribution system to account for ~20 years stepping out of the workforce for parenting/caring which we'd now like to avail of.

She's been in receipt of Irish child benefit payments (in her name) since 2005 in Ireland.

Does she have to do anything now to trigger that? Or (hopefully not!) is this too late to do?

Thanks
