I have 20K to invest. Must be short term and reasonably accessible. Irish Nationwides rate of 3.5% for three months seems to be the best at the moment. Unfortunately with all of yesterdays talk, most commentators are saying that Irish Nationwide are finished, along with Anglo et al.
It seems to me that the most troubled banks seem to be offering the best rates of interest for deposits, however it would seem to me that they can hardly have the cash reserves to pay out the interest which they are advertising.
How safe is any bank these days. I am with pTSB who seem to be less exposed than others. Their deposit rate is not as good as Irish Nationwide though. Any thoughts or advice would be welcomed.
