We need advice on how to proceed with our mortgage application. We have lived in Ireland for over 6 years but prior to that we had a property in the UK which we sold in 2007. The mortgage provider wants us to do a credit check on our residency in the UK during that period even though we cannot facilitate this as it appears we need a current UK address. We have tried to contact experian and equifax however it is impossible to speak to anybody. Any advice much appreciated.
Given that it's five years since you had a mortgage in the UK, I think your mortgage provider is being excessive seeking a UK credit check. Is there a reason why you must go with this particular lender here? I think I'd explain to them that you can't get a UK credit check without a UK address and if they still don't like it, try another lender.
We were asked the same thing, been here for years and mortgage approved but we needed to supply the experian check for the UK. Seems strange they wouldnt do this if it costs so little or as we found out sometimes free!
