I'm trying to help an elderly relative update their health insurance - renewal costs have come in at over 4,000 euro for the year for one person which seems completely mad for someone who even at their age still only sees the doctor twice a year, and (touch wood) hasn't been near a hospital in 10 years. They are on Level 2 hospital cover, and I've played around with the HIA comparison tool a bit, but I'm getting cross eyed trying to find something similar. Can anyone point me to something that might be close? Or is there a way of being more specific in the HIA comparison tool that I have missed?

You are right when you mention about the HIA website as it is not particularly user friendly IMHO. To be honest it wrecks my head
That is a very high premium so does need investigation. In light of the recent changes in VHI's approach to their expensive premiums it does seem to be a common expensive problem too.
Perhaps some of the following options might be open to your relative:
1. www.totalhealthcover.ie - Dermot Goode
2. Look up other brokers
