IPod Charging Issues

Hey All,

Apologies for the simplicity of the question, but I was recently charing my IPod a 4GB IPod Mini, then low and behold my nephew takes the USB cable from the laptop, this caused the normal battery charging symbol to dissappear with a blank space replacing it... I have tried replacing this several times as well as trying it on different laptops...

Would anyone have any idea if the beloved IPod has played its last tune or is this a simple issue which could be addressed?

Thanks,

SB

I had something similar happen with my iPod Nano (mid-charge computer kaput) and I thought the same thing - oh crap because it didn't seem to want to recharge and it didn't seem to work. What I did was let it drain completely and try it again, came back bright as a button. Hope yours does too.

Had an issue before that the ipod wouldn't go out of connected mode, and as so-crates says, allowing the battery to drain should work.

Hi Stupid Boy,
It probably just need to be re-set try this:
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

I just let the battery drain as advised and voila... listening to Bruce Springsteen again!

Thanks a million folks!

ipods drive me nuts everytime i charge mine its full i listen to it for 30mins turn it off and when i turn it on again says battery low and diesssss. only works when it wants to. i know 3 other ppl with the same problem

How old are these ipods, unfortunately re chargeable units only have a certain life span? Anything under a year then apple will replace the ipod for you
under warranty.
