Invoicing Ireland-based US company. W8-BEN or W8-BEN-E...?

I am about to invoice an Ireland-based US company.

I was commissioned to do the work by a US-based office.

In the instructions for how to invoice them (I have never before seen anything so comprehensive!), they ask.........

"For the invoicing, please include the following details on your invoice, as well as complete a W8-BEN if you'd like to be contracted as an individual, or
W8-BEN-E if you'd like to be contracted as an entity/business."

I have looked at both forms and I'm not sure what the implications of completing either are.

I am a Dublin-based, VAT registered, sole-trader. I am not a registered company.

Any advice appreciated.

Many thanks.

Best wishes,

Denis

Thanks for the reply.

It's commercial photography. The work was done yesterday in the company's Dublin office. But, it was commissioned by a US office.

Thanks again.

If they have a Dublin office (a "permanent establishment") under Irish Revenue rules, I can't imagine that everyone who does work for that office has to individually file their details with the IRS. You should ask them if it's really necessary.
