My uncle aged 63 [born1956] receives Invalidity Pension.
We reckon that he will never return to work.
He looks likely to qualify for the State pension in time on the basis of PRSI payments and credits.

Q1. At what age will he become entitled to the contributory State pension ?

Q2. Does the Invalidity pension stop when State pension starts ?

Q3. Does he have to make a specific application for the State pension or does the Invalidity pension roll over automatically ?

1. For someone born in 1953, the State Pension age is 67.
2. Yes,
3. He has to apply for the State Pension, but he should be notified about 3 months prior as to what he needs to do.

Incorrect. I was born in 1953 and am going to get my pension in a couple of months time at the young sprightly age of 66.

I am not sure if this is correct either.

If the uncle is already on Invalidity pension I think that you automatically move to a State Pension.
