Invalidity Benefit - Automatic Medical Card Entitlement?

Hi,
My spouse was recently 'awarded' invalidity pension as a result of a long standing disability. We were under the impression that a medical card was an automatic entitlement & followed when invalidity pension was awarded. However, it now appears that this entitlement (i.e. the medical card) may be means tested, in which case we may not qualify. I'd appreciate any feedback from others who may be in the same situation or aware of similar situations. Thanks in advance, apple1

Would you be thinking of a Long Term Illness Card. This card is only for specific illnesses.

If you are not entitled to a full medical card you might qualify for a GP only card, worth trying too
