Interview being conducted through Irish

I have applied for a job as an instructor in a gaeltacht area. I received a letter (in Irish) inviting me to attend for interview. It also states that most of the interview will be conducted through Irish. However, my Irish is very limited and I did state on my job application that I was not fluent.

What do you think my chances are if I ask to be interviewed in English? The course itself is not being taught through Irish.

Thanks for any advice anyone can give.

I think the clue may be in the question

You could ask but I think it highly unlikely. I would assume that most of your dealings in the job will be through Irish and part of the interview process will be to ascertain your level of proficiency in the language.
