I was just reading here about an internet flaw software patch which should be installed as apparently there is a flaw in the foundation of the Internet.

Why not use the link quoted in the article to check for vulnerability? http://www.doxpara.com

A patch will only be released when one is available, or so it says in the article "The patch can't be "reverse engineered" by hackers interested in figuring out how to take advantage of the flaw, technical details of which are being kept secret for a month to give companies time to update computers."
 
Thanks, just read your updated reply. So looks like I'll have to wait for the patch.
 
Unless you run an internet service provider you don't need to worry about this.....

Unless you are running a DNS server there is nothing you can do about this , it's the ISPs need to worry about it , not end users....

Not true - because you could be the victim of a phishing attack as a result of your ISP's DNS returning the incorrect IP address (e.g. you type in the url for your online banking and you are sent to a phishing site).

Also as per the following article Microsoft have released a patch for it for 'personal computers':

Personal computers should pick up the patch through automated updates. Microsoft released its patch on 8 July as part of its regular security cycle.

ISPs and end users must patch their systems to ensure that they do not remain vulnerable to this DNS cache poisoning technique. What do you need to do? Just act as normal and apply operating system updates when you are notified to install them.
