I'll be in Kerry for the month of June and won't have any internet access where I'm staying (no landline), which I'll need. There's definitely no broadband in the area either.
I've used my mobile phone as a modem before when I've been stuck but are there any better/cheaper options for this kind of situation, ie only need it for a month?
You could consider signing up for mobile broadband - O2 or vodafone (or maybe both) offer a 30 day 'trial' (15 days for 3), and will refund you if you're not happy. Check coverage etc first.
Thanks for that rmelly, I didn't know about the free trials being offered - had dismissed mobile broadband because I thought I'd be tied to a 12 month contract. Will look them up, thanks again.
If you have a 3G enabled phione and bluetooth on your computer you can access the internet directly through your phone. I looked into getting temporary access to mobile broadband for the same reason as yourself and it wasn't practical (with O2 anyway). In the end I got a download allowance for my phone (E7.50 for 250MB or E15 for 1G, with O2 again) and that worked great. Tech services will tell you hoe to set it up. It's not a great option if you're doing a lot og downloading but just for normal stuff it's perfect. Reasonable speeds too.
