Internal white doors?

Hi

To anyone with white internal doors - what are they made of?
Are they the hollow doors or a type of wood painted?
I can't decide what type of doors to get, i'd like white doors but not sure what type to get.

I think that mine are deal/red deal painted white. They are a nightmasre to keep clean though !

You can get white hollow doors which cost about 40 Euros. If you want to have a heavier, white door you need "Paint Grade Doors ", which will have an undercoat of white on them, or, you can buy an "unfinished" wooden door.

You can also buy Engineered Doors, which are as good as solid wooden doors. They are cheaper, but make sure you get your sizes right, as they only be planed very slightly. If you want these in white, you will have to get a universal primer first, and then paint them in your colour of choice.

Get plenty of quotes, some places are very expensive, but solid wood doors cost alot anyhow. Woodies have an offer on internal doors at the moment.

Bluebells can you tell me more about the "Paint Grade Doors ", we are also going for internal white doors and painting them but an intial painted door would be great how do they compare pricewise to red deal, thanks.

What part of the country are you in? I found mine in Heitons in Castlebar, and while I'm sure you'll get them in any branch, or indeed other Builders Providers, they had lots of doors there. Get them to bring you out into the warehouse and have a look. They were heavy, robust doors in different styles. There is another type of 'white door', which is heavier again, which is a fire door. However you cannot put glass panels in them.

They seemed to be very reasonable in price, and you should ask for a discount. The Door Depot (some name like that), on the Tuam Road in Galway quoted me an insane price for solid wood doors, and I'm not the better of it yet.

Shopping around is a pain and time consuming, but you will learn something new in every shop.

If you are looking for locks and hinges, Basta are still the best. Lock sets are 6.99 in some shops and 10.99 in others. Hinges can be 8.50 for 2, or 5.50 for 3, depending on the shop.
