:) Hi everybody,

Im looking for advice, recently moved house and its so COLD! Its Cavity block built and dry lined through out. Is there any way i can insulate the interior without removing the present dry lining?
 
You could get the cavities pumped with bead insulation. The company drills holes in the walls and the beads are pumped under pressure.
Check the house for any drafts as dry-lying usually means a warm house from outside elements
 
get the attic done anyway. Got mine redone last week, another 8inches of rockwool and the following day, one would notice the difference in room temperatures.

you cannot get the walls done if cavity block, but you could take down the drylining and redo if you wanted.
 
I had a company out with Me on friday and they said the Cavity blocks can be pumped and be 70-80% effective. Any research ive done seems to say exact opposite and if anything can cause problems down the line, Anybody done this ? What surprised Me most was the Company is a reputable Company!. I redone the attic couple months ago and while it has improved the the walls really are the problem.
 
Do not go ahead with this ........ unless you want partial insulation/cold bridging and tossing away good money. When the blocks are laid some mortar 'bulges' up into the cavity ....... thereby reducing it. Now, if you take the four corners where the blocks meet, add in the 1/2" mortar plus the 'bulge' into the cavity ........... if that represents only 20% - 30% of the four blocks, then that guy should return to primary school ......... and this time pay a bit more attention to the math detail.
