Interest relief / property let for 4 months each year

I am a non-resident thinking of buying an apartment in Ireland with a local mortgage. I am planning to use the apartment personally occasionally for c8 months each year when I visit from time to time. I plan to rent it for the other 4 months of the year (probably on several short-term lets). Will I be able to offset interest costs against the rental income and if so, how is this calculated. (Is it pro-rata 4/12 x interest cost)
 
You really need to get independent, professional advice in this sort of situation. Ideally from somebody with knowledge of the tax systems in Ireland and the country in which you are resident.
