I am a non-resident thinking of buying an apartment in Ireland with a local mortgage. I am planning to use the apartment personally occasionally for c8 months each year when I visit from time to time. I plan to rent it for the other 4 months of the year (probably on several short-term lets). Will I be able to offset interest costs against the rental income and if so, how is this calculated. (Is it pro-rata 4/12 x interest cost)
