Insurance on vacant rental property

Hi

My insurer refused to renew the insurance on our rental property as it has been vacant for about 8-9 months. It is largely empty, water off etc, but I am still uneasy about not having any insurance in place. Local broker also ruled out insurance on vacant property.

Anyone know of acompany that will insure a vacant property(we are trying to get it let with a new agent)?

Many thanks. That was a very useful tip.

Most will insure it for fire only and you must have esb/water disconnected.
Allianz will do fire only.

FBD may insure if you hope to have someone move in soon.

Allianz would only offer fire cover if it was currently insured and vacated. They won't take on un-tenanted properties. Nor will most insurers. Even insurers of rented properties with tenants will only generally consider on the basis of a rental agreement being in place.
