Insurance for a committee chain of office

Hi

Our committee has a chairman's gold chain of office which is passed on to a newly elected chair each year. It was recently valued at approx €30,000 and we feel it is prudent to have it insured.

Any ideas how we can insure this as a committee when it is stored in a different house each year? We want to avoid asking the chair to add to their house insurance.

Thanks

From experience it needs to be added to the insurance of the chair as a high value item and then the club/office pays this as an expense. Well worth doing it. I had one stolen in a burglary and thankfully it was insured (€5k)

I'd also advise to take good close-up photos so that if it does get lost or stolen, someone doing a replica can create one.

Another option is to have a low cost replica made for less important occasions and only bring the main chain out for the main events and the chain held permanently at a specific location.
https://www.mmi.ie/ are the place to go for a replica.
