Hi
Am thinking of getting the hall walls reskimmed - it currently wallpaper that is going to bring some of the plasterboard with it when start to take it off so going to get the walls reskimmed and do the job proper
Last winter the hall was very cold - i was wondering when getting it reskimmed could i get the old plaster board on the external facing walls taken off and new plaster board fitted and skim over that

Im wondering if there is insulation plaster board that i could get and use for this. I think i heard someone mention this one time but not sure if such a thing exists and if it is any good in terms of offering better heat insulation

I know i could just get the walls dry lined but would loose lot of space in the hall and cant afford to lose that so if this insulation plaster board exists it might be option

Does such a thing exist and is is possible to remove the existing plaster board and put up this new insulation plaster board

Thoughts?
Thanks

Would it not be possible to remove a very small portion/ strip at the top and bottom of the existing plasterboard, mark the position of the timber frame work beneath and the simply fix the new insulated plasterboard using longer plasterboard screws? Thus a quick and easy job which stops any big loss on current space. My friend had something similar done when he was redoing his ceilings and there was no problem with this solution in his case.

Numerous different options available to you. Most of the major insulation manufacturers will have brochures on line showing you what to do and how their dry-lined insulation works

using a bradall (sharp pointed tool ) you can poke into the plasterboard and find the position of the joists, they should be 400mm apart. If the tip of the bradaal passes easily through you have not hit a stud if it doesnt you have.
Use Kingspan insulation backed plasterboards and long drywall screws, no need to remove any of the wallpaper if its to be covered and only insulate walls that are external ones, any other internal walls will give you no benefits at all.
