Insulating walls

Hi, I have a house in Dublin that was built in 1965 and as soon as the heating goes off, I feel the temperature drop. I'm trying to find out about insulating the external walls. I don't know whether my walls are cavity walls, solid walls or cavity brick. It's very hard to get straight answers from suppliers and I want to get the best quality job done. Does anyone know if you can figure out the type of walls by measuring the depth at the window? Can anyone recommend excellent suppliers? I would like to get the walls pumped so that the interior wouldn't need re-painting, not to mention the skirting, window sills and other features adjusted.

Are there any grants available for lowering the emissions of your home?

Thanks a million

Hi,

Welcome to AAM.

There are many previous threads on this subject on AAM and if you run the search option in this forum you should be able to get appropriate answers from those.

A visit to the website may be informative also or they have a service where they get one of their advisors to give you a call back.

Be careful about getting the walls pumped as they may not be suitable for same especially in light of the year that your house was built. Ours was built in '74 and wasn't suitable.
