Insulating Paint versus Cavity Wall Foam

Am looking at upgrading the insulation in our house and am looking at two options.

Have gotten a quote for Insulating Paint (paint mixed with ceramic microspheres). To do the extension which is much colder than the main house and has a mould problem in the main bedroom.

Our house is a land commission house renovated and extended. The attic is well insulated but my wife is always complaining about being cold.

The cavity wall has insulating board in between the blocks but there would be an inch and a half of space to blow in foam.

The insulating paint solution would cost about 1300 all in and I'm told the foam would be 600 or 700. Have to get a proper quote on that.

Anyone ever used insulating paint and if so, what were your experiences.

Would filling the cavity wall have much of an effect considering it already has some insulation.

Hope someone can help and thanks.

As you apparently have some insulation in the attic and walls but your wife is still feeling the cold, I have to ask; -

  • Do you have double glazed uPVC/timber windows?
  • Do you have an insulated ground floor?
  • Do you have an unconverted garage?
  • Do you have an open fireplace?
  • Do you have a porch?

If the answer to all these is no, then you have some work to do.
If the answer to all these is yes then its a bit trickier.
A professional should really look at the house.
