Insulating in the rain

Is there a major problem with putting down floor insulation (PIR) when its raining? I assume that the water will work its way up through the concrete floor over time and eventually dry out? The joys of building in an Irish summer!!!

When you fill the floor void with concrete, most of the water will be pushed out. I have seen sites covered with plastic after the insulation has been laid to try and keep as much water out as possible.

it would be in your interests to lay a second layer of plastic over the PIR insulation, This is called a slipping sheet and can anything between 600-1200 gauge polythene. It will protect against the concrete reacting with the foil face of the insulation. Its a standard practise in both Uk andon continent.

er. I've never heard of anyone laying the floor insulation before the house is sealed.
fhiw some insulation (eg extruded insulation) is designed to sit on roof tops in water if neccessary.

sfag... i think you may have picked up the question a bit skew-ways..

In the vast majority of cases the floor insulation is laid before the floor slab is poured.. .BEFORE the walls are built....
