Is there any way to avoid CAT on inheritance for non-residents. I'm now a resident of Portugal and I'm on the 10 year Non-Habitual Resident which enables no tax on foreign income for 10 years.

The Portuguese goverment will not tax me on anything but is there a way to avoid paying Revenue the CAT. Domiciled in Portugal and resident. Obrigado!

If the donor or the beneficary are Irish resident (or ordinary resident), or if the property is Irish situate, it’s subject to CAT with an exemption for non-Irish domiciled people during their first five years here.

Yes, I've just become a resident here in Portugal and my special status enables me not to pay inheritance tax....Revenue in Ireland are still going to take the tax right?

Who is the inheritance from and where did they live?

If the donor was resident in Ireland, then yes you are liable to Irish CAT
