incentivised career break, anyone approved?

Hi there,
just wondering if anyone has been approved for the civil service career break?
I hear unions are not backing it due to the increased work load to the remaining staff and the department heads are unwilling to release staff as they are not being replaced.

I know of several people who have been approved. One person has left already, others are due to go early Sept. I wouldnt have a problem with it as there are several areas of the Civil Service which are overstaffed. However, obviously staff would have to be redeployed on a priority basis. Simply leaving vacancies wherever someone happened to decide to take a career break/early retirement wouldn't make sense.
