Hi I am currently working part time I am a single mother to 3 kids my eldest is 11 and diagnosed with autism when he was 5 I am currently on half rate carers would I be entitled to incapacitated tax I’ve only now heard of recently

You should qualify for incapacitated tax should you have a formal diagnosis. You also need to apply for domicillary care allowance which in turn
will qualify you for respite care grant every year.
Go to your local health center or citizens information office for help.

Thank you I was hesitant because I’ve only worked part time would I receive a tax refund for the last 4 years ?? I get dca and carers also thank you for your reply’s

@kellemarie, yes, you can claim this credit for the previous 4 years, (2021-2024) and also in the current tax year (2025), shame all previous years prior to 2021 is now statue barred. This can all be done via My Account on Revenue.

would I receive a tax refund for the last 4 years ??
If you would have qualified for it for some of all of 2021-2024 then you can claim it via your Revenue myAccount and they'll rebalance your tax for the relevant years and issue a refund if applicable.
Edit: post crossed with @Fionclaire's.
