In receipt of child benefit before & after leaving UK

Hi,

I qualify to be able to make voluntary contributions and am in the process of completing the online application. I am a stay at home mom and was in receipt of UK child benefit for several years before leaving the UK in 2016 and then in receipt of Irish child benefit from my arrival back to Ireland right up to today.

I will find out what the HMRC make of this in terms of whether I will be able to pay Class 2 or Class 3 in time but wanted to check if anyone has knowledge of this specific situation in the meantime?

If you were not working when you moved / returned to Ireland, you will likely be Class 3. HMRC are the decision makers however, so see what you get back first.
