Implications of moving from 1 yr lease to shorter leases

I have an apartment that I am thinking of selling either later this year or next year. At the moment I have a one year lease on it and it is registered with the RTB. The lease is up in July and tenants are leaving. I was thinking of renting now on a shorter lease maybe 3 months or 6 months as I am not sure when exactly I will be selling it. If I changed to a shorter lease what are the implications for the RTB. Would I have to register it with the RTB on a shorter lease?

Please read the other posts on this. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A ONE YEAR LEASE OR A SHORTER TERM LEASE.

Currently, all leases after 6 months are indefinite. If your tenants weren't leaving of their own accord you could not not tell them to go just because you are not renewing.

After March, all leases starting then will be permanent or 6 year fixed term.

It is possible at present to let for 6 months. Make sure you give the correct notice & be 100% upfront that its 6 months only.

That 6 month rule may be abolished for leases entered into post March 2026 to prevent a landlord creating a series of short term leases.

I think that post March once you hand over the key, the tenant will be in for a guaranteed 6 years if you are a small landlord and permanently if you are a large one.
