Impact of new boiler on my BER

I've got a few quotes from plumbers to install a new boiler and would like to avail of the new €700 grant (from SEI) towards it plus controls upgrade. My old boiler is indeed old but working fine and I hope to sell the house in approx 3 years.

I'm just wondering if I should instead take the €500 towards the controls upgrade instead? My old boler will probably see me out and the difference in the grants is only €200.

Also does anyone know what impact a new boiler will have on my BER?

its impossible to say exactly what impact it would have without a proper assessment, but i can say that the efficiency of the boiler is one of the main factors in determining your rating...

if you are down around the E1 levels.. .a 95% boiler may jump you up a few levels...
if your around the d1/c3 level.. it might only jump you up one level...

but suffice to say that if your existing boiler is 70% efficient and your new only will be 95% efficient.. then you will be making 25% savings on your heating costs...
