Illness benefit

I am an overseas staff nurse who had been working here with HSE for the last 4 years and I resigned from the job because of my severe back pain. I have a valid working visa until January 2010. I want to know whether I am entitled to any benefits as I do not have a job right now.

If you paid full (Class A) PRSI contributions during your working years you may be entitled to Illness Benefit from the Dept of Social and Family Affairs. You can get a medical certificate & application form from your GP, send it in and you'll be notified whether you qualify or not.
