Hi Guys,

looking for a bit of advice, i noticed today that someone has dumped and old wardrobe and few other bits mainly wood from furniture behind our fence in the back garden.

a few years back everyone in our row got a letter from the co council about people dumping rubbish over their fence and i made sure there was none behind mine and never heard another thing.

now i have a fair idea who this stuff belongs to but cant prove it. it would have had to be thrown from one of my neighbours back gardens as there is no way to leave stuff there as its not accessable overgrown etc.

question is if i ring the council to report it will i be held responsible for it as its backing onto my property. all i know is its not mine and i have no way to dispose of it. to even get at it now would mean giving someone access via my property (back garden).

tks

I would think it better to ring the council because if someone else reports it it may be seen that you dumped it, if you know what I mean. Get in there first so to speak.

Your local council should have a litter warden and if you report it, you're getting in there to say it's not yours. Like niceoneted says, getting in first is importnat. The litter warden will try and find evidence contained within the rubbish, e.g. something that gives away the identity of the person doing the dumping. Best to leave this to them though rather than going about rooting through it yourself.

i am going to ring the litter warden in the morning, its just timber from a wardrobe and curtain rails again timber - there is not household rubbish that i can see. it would be hard to prove who it belongs to.

I am friends with one of them on facebook for moment. and they have a photo from november 2010 of their back garden covered in snow which shows the timber pieces all around their garden up against their fence. now all this timber went away when the renovated their garden and suddenly i notice loads of timber (i presume the same stuff) behind my back fence.

i have copied the photo and will show it to the litter wardem.

thanks for your help everyone
