Ideal location for elderly parents.

Hi,

I'm looking to treat elderly parents to a weekend away either in Scotland or Ireland. Looking for a nice hotel (4 star) with a bit of charm, maybe a castle hotel; access to local walks, scenery, a quiet weekend, good hotel service.

I'm not looking for a hotel based in the city or a hotel which is too formal. I want parents to be able to relax.

If anyone has experience of a quiet weekend break which left an impression I would be obliged if you could confirm the location. There is so many examples on the internet I just dont know where to start.
 
Ashford castle looks really impressive. Lovely scenery as it's right on the lake.

It's in Cong Co. Mayo. Haven't stayed there but definetly on my to do list.
 

Castle Leslie is really lovely. Very atmospheric, lovely staff. They also don't allow kids so making it a very adult break.
 
marlfield hotel in wexford .were in our 60s and had a great time there.
 
The Slieve Russell near Belturbet was very good when we were there last year for a wedding. Good spa, golfcourse and very good service.
