Hi all,

I want to buy a food ice cream maker and think the Gaggia is the one. It is about GBP250 + shipping but I have only seen it online in one place in .ie for €450 which is too much. I would guess it should be about €350 max.

Anybody know of any retailers that have them or how to get one for a good price?

I would consider going up to Newry area if people know what retailers have them so I can enquire.

Thanks!

The Dublin Cookery School does an ice cream maker that is very good - I've used it but didn't buy one as I don't have room in my freezer. It's a manual one but is really excellent - I think it's about €170. They are in Blackrock so no shipping if you are Dublin. It would be worth even popping in to see it and get the lowdown as there's a big price difference between that and what you are proposing to pay.

thanks for the links! I actually found a site in Italy for €319 with free shipping but don't really want to chance long distance shipping coming up to Christmas!

The Gaggia website http://www.gaggia.co.uk/ has reconditioned ones for £199 with a 12 month warranty and as you'd be dealing direct with the manufacturer any problems should be easily rectified. Just noticed it says UK delivery only but you could check with them.
It seems you can buy reconditioned machines from their own shops - Gaggia have a shop in Junction One up North.

thanks I'm not into buying reconditioned anything.

it seems to me that there are lots of websites which are probably all the same company.

The coffeeitalia.ie is replicated in other countries like .co.uk but I've been in verbal contact with them and they are very helpful and on the ball with responses to questions etc so I will order from them and get a free blender too and free shipping via UPS for €323.

Some of those €2xx prices above are really in Sterling.
