I am looking to purchase a home as first time under the tenant purchase scheme from the local authority (county council). My mother is currently living in this house and the council have offered her the chance to purchase the property under the tenant purchase scheme. Because of my mothers age over 60,she will not be offered a mortgage by any bank. I have offered to purchase the property as I would qualify for a loan that is required, 60k. My name is not on title of the house,but the council have agreed to allow my name go on the title as I am sure most banks will require this as security. Can any one offer me advice on the best way to go about securing a loan under the council tenant agreement and what banks would be the best to approach and the type of loan I should look for.
