Hi there, Just wondering has anybody got any knowledge of HSE panels and panel rights. If you are next on the panel and a vacancy comes up for which you are qualified to carry out do you automatically get the position? I would appreciate any advice! Thanks
 
Is it a HBS panel? They issue an email to everyone on the panel asking you to express your interest. The highest ranked who replies 'expressing an interest' is moved to the next stage of the process.
 
The HSE operate several panels for job vacancies:-
1. The "normal" panel where general competition has been held and results issued. I've seen such a panel last for over a year.
2. Internal Confined Competition panel holds places for those being promoted from within.
3. Temporary positions can be recruited separately and there is no obligation to take people from either of above. "Temporary" recruits can be made into fulltime established staff.
4. Don't discount the internal transfer situation either where people of a grade can change location.
