A quick question - Do internal job vacancies in the HSE have to be advertised? ie. Does there have to be a competition ?

Thanks for the reply..What if they dont advertise a position and award it internally without competition (all hush hush)..Is there some code of practice governing the hse's appointment procedures? Where can one go to address such an issue?

Even if you aren't a member of the trade union have you asked the local union rep if they are able to answer the query?

Contact your union rep, they will contact management. I dont think it will make any difference to this appointment but it will stop it from happening again.
