How to turn down radiators?

Hi,
My heating system is pretty standard I think, firebird boiler etc. I have no thermostat in the house, and the only dial for adjusting seems to be a little grey box which is stuck on to the boiler. It has a dial from 0 to 5, and its set to 1. My radiators are roasting all the time, and I would like to turn down the heat of them. I moved the dial to almost 0, but it's made no difference. Any ideas?

maybe a faulty stat. Buy one and fit it, probes are in a dry pocket so easy to change.

Get your boiler serviced, ensure it is set properly so it is only given out heat required to house.
