There are a number of wild cats in the vicinity of my mother in law's house. The main problem is that they poo a lot around her garden, and usually in the very same places. Any advice on how to get rid of them? Would a cats and dogs home supply something like cage traps to capture them? Thanks.

Hi,

Someone told me there is a gadget in the new Argos catalogue which emits a sound that will keep cats away for 100 feet or so and is priced at €45.

I have the same problem and am going to get one. i think it might work for dogs too. Some of them are my neighbours cats and are so annoying at night when they bring on all the sensor lights around the house every few minutes.

Bear in mind that there is probably something attracting the cats to your mother in laws garden, most probably rodents. The cats might be the lesser of two "evils" in the long run.

Lex, pop to Fota & ask for some Lion poo.. put it down in the shot where the cats mostly tend to poo. They should take off after that. Apparently they'll feel threatened by the bigger cat

Thanks to the three of you for the replies. I'll check the Argos catalogue for the beeper. It is quite possible that they are there because of rodents, alright but I've never seen any around her house. (Touché ) Interesting one about the lion's poo, Shootingstar, I remember re-seeding our garden about 20 years ago and cats digging up sections of it before the grass seed grew. I went to some shop and they gave me something to get rid of the cats that had been manufactured from lion's wee wee! Will follow it up.

Thank you all again.

I have tried the beeper - didnt work for me! Saw this online - An empty 2 litre bottle (labels removed), filled with water and left where the sun could shine on it - seemed to do the trick. Mad, I know. But worth a try...
