How to get rid of unwanted pigeons

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of pigeons that have taken up residence on the ridge of my mothers house. At any given time there are 50 -60 perched up there and she can no longer hang out her washing as her yard is constantly covered in droppings despite her cleaning it every day. Pest control companys don't want to know as it is a three storey house. All suggestions gratefully accepted.
 
i heard playing cd's of hawk sounds will deter them and the decoy pics for the windows too
 
Anti-Roosting Spike Strips that are easy to attach in any place can be used to scare away pigeons and thereby, help in pigeon control.;)
 
Our crab apple trees are already being devastated by about 6 of these greedy flying pigs that have taken up residence close to our garden. I have put in place one of the false birds of prey without any effect whatsoever.
 
Assuming that the pigeons are not "homing birds"... then pigeons are attracted to a constant source of food... do any neighbours "feed the birds" by throwing out bread or something similar? Is your Mom in a built up area - city centre? Are they nesting nearby at the moment? Pigeons are easily startled.... so loud noises do frighten them... but needs to be done consistenly to get rid of them & you might not be too popular with the neighbours afterward...

might be something that you could try... but from my experience, it's food / nesting that they are staying around for.
