how to find a housekeeper in dublin?

Hi Folks,
I hope one of you could help me with this one.
Are there any reputable companies in dublin that provide "housekeepers" / housekeeping services for the dublin area? I know ideally this is done by word of mouth etc but as Im abroad this is not possible and its very difficult for me to monitor someone, eventhough Im home a lot, so Id like to use a company in the hope that I may get some reputable.

My father has a cleaning lady who only comes in once a week. My father doesn't want her there and only has her because a family member has insisted. She is paid for two hours work but only stays for one hour. The house is still filthy before and after her visit. I think he confines her to certain areas of the house. Nobody can visit his house on the day the cleaning lady is due to call because he is so uptight about her visit. If you call several hours before she is due the first thing he does is remind you that the cleaning lady is due, in otherwords he doesn't want you staying too long.
Old people can be fiercely independent and they can see helpful advice as interference. Tread carefully.

Thanks Grizzly. Ill bare it in mind. Ive also rephrased my original post so that Im not in breach of posting guidelines.
I still want to know however if there are companies in dublin that provide housekeeping services.

what has that got to do with the POST

You may want to initially explore the possibility of seeing if your parents qualify for any home help services for the elderly provided by the HSE – even if it’s someone popping in just to make sure they’re ok & ensuring they are eating, or perhaps a bit of light housework once a week etc.

Depending on their age & circumstances, some elderly people are entitled to these services, which bridge the gap between independent living & the necessity for full time residential care.

It would be no harm to choose the relevant area here [broken link removed] & contact them by phone.

If your parents are not entitled to any community based help, which could well be the case, especially now with cutbacks & lack of funding, you might be able to get some advice or recommendations from the HSE on their preferred providers for home help on a private basis.

I know that Comfort Keepers are a HSE preferred provider. There is a list of home care providers on the website, so you may want to research some of the companies listed on that, or perhaps enquire from the HSE as to whether or not they would recommend any of them.

You could try Hynes Agency. I know them personally but have not used them professionally. I'm sure they'd give you customer references.
