How To Do a Reboot and Do I Need To Download Windows XP Service Pack?

Ive recently been installing new anti-virus software and have heard about rebooting. How do I do a reboot?

Also, I have XP and automatic updates are turned on. My question is, Ive read here about 'service packs' and other update tools from the microsoft site, do I need to download these too or does the automatic updates function do that.

A reboot is the same as closing down Windows and restarting the computer.

The update can be configured a number of ways. Ranging from doing nothing to automatically installing all updates.
