how to budget self build

hope to start building house soon 297sq metres 50 of which is a garage, had a quote for timber frame supply and erect windows in roof on all blockwork and exterior plaster for 96000, how much do you think i will need after this to get it insulated electrics, plumbing and plastered inside? i will do tiling kitchen and source doors and bathrooms myself, any help really appreciated.
 
May I ask where you are building and if your quote was from a local timber frame company?
 
building in galway, yes local guy got 2 quotes the other was 11000 for the same spec.
 
I'm in the middle of a self build and the one regret is that I didn't get a QS to price the job at the beginning.
I priced it myself for all the various stages and I'm running about 10% over budget.
A QS should be able to do a good breakdown on all stages
 
do you know on average qs charges for this service? i got a quote off my next door neighbour who is a builder when i went round to get the details from him he hadnt even seen the quote himself he gets a qs to price it up for him then handed it to him.
 
I would estimate no more than 500 quid. It should be easy to shop around now with the slowdown.let me know how you get on
