How do I set up Auto clear on Account

Does any of ye know how I go about setting up an auto clear system on my account as I get paid via cheque which I have to lodge myself and I want it to clear straight away. Does my employer have to sign something?

Also does anybody know how long it takes? Trying to get it set up as I dont get paid for Xmas until the 22nd and need it to clear for the weekend.

Anybody know whats involved in direct transfer as I may ask my employer to do this instead
