How do I find owner of a registered trademark?

I have a product and on it is printed the product brandname and beside the product brandname is an 'R' inside a circle.

The brand is not well known, though I *think* the 'R' inside a circle symbol means it's a registered trademark. Let me know if this is wrong!

How would I go about locating the company which owns this registered brandname?

Presumably there must be a register of registered brandnames somewhere...?
