Hello,

Last year I registered for income tax as I believed it was the right thing after purchasing some ETFs.

This year I went online to declare medical expenses for 2021 as I usually do every year. I went online to review my taxes for 2021, I requested my statement of liability but I got a message saying that I am unable to do it as I was registered for income tax last year, how can I do this now? I'm a bit lost.

Message them via myAccount and ask why you can't file your medical expenses?
I'll do.

It;s not just about filing medical expenses, I can't access the section on My Revenue where I used to review my taxes for last year and upload my bills, I get that msg instead. Do I need to do all of that filling a Form 11 now that I own stocks/ETFs?

You need to do it on Form 11. You can amend the form if you have already submitted it without claiming your medical expenses.

Why do you say that they need to do a form 11?
There's nothing above to say they they're self assessed.

You can go to the 'Manage your tax registrations' section of ROS and cease your income tax registration.

thanks, but I will be still registered for last year? Unregistering will apply to 2022?

I don't know. If you cease registration and then go into your Myaccount and check for your Statement of liability for 2021 you will find out. If your statement of liability is available you are probably unregistered for 2021.

Not if you deregister from the original date when you registered. When completing the little form to do this, tell them you registered by mistake.

Thanks, I deregister this morning from the day I registered, I'm still not able to access my PAYE income declaration but I contacted them.
