A quick one, a friend of mine had a serious accident last year and as a result of this was left paralysed from the neck down. The house had to be adapted and car etc. They were allowed claim back the vat on the car but is there anything they are entitled to in relation to the house changes such as vat back, grants, etc.

tanks!

This is (unfortunately!) relevant:

Starting the work to adapt your home

The grant will not be paid if you start work before the grant is approved. However, it is expected that the work will start within 6 months of your grant approval.

The housing department of your local authority look after this grant so i'd get on to them and see if there's anything that could be done.

as a matter of interest, why did they not look into this before the work was done?

best of luck to your friend.

Tanks Woodbine,
accident was very sudden, baby on way, emotions very high, etc. They weren't tinking about money at the time. Work is still going on.
Tanks for that will give them a ring later.
