There are many existing threads about house insurance (e.g. what to insure for, what to look for in a policy, where to get quotes etc.) that might be of interest and which you should be able to find by browsing/searching the site.

Then try the individual company web sites (Some companies offer discounts for online quotes).
Then ring the companies direct. Some companies may not have updated their rates to the online system.
I just switched using - they were by far the cheapest. They are underwritten by an English company which made me review the terms and conditions in detail.
Hopefully I won't have to make a claim i.e. test how it truely works.
