Hosting event on private land

Hi,

I've just got a quick question regarding renting out my land a couple times a year for an event.

I only do it a couple of times a year for a few specific groups and I'm wondering am I required to pay VAT on the money I receive. We're not a company/business and I'm not registered for VAT. I'm just a little worried I could be taken to task for this but it only amounts to a few hundred a year, and in particular because I issue them with an invoice for them to make the cheque out to my own name. Any help would be appreciated

You would be below the threshold for VAT registration so VAT shouldn't be an issue. However you should be declaring it for income tax purposes.
