Hospital Transport

My dad has recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is to undergo radiotherapy over a 7 week period at the Galway Clinic. He lives in Athlone, so this would involve a 120 mile round trip 5 days a week. He is 76, so making the journey by car would be too much for him. All of his children live at least 2 hours away from him, so cannot help much. Does anyone know if he is entitled to transport, being a medical card holder?

Have you talked to the hospital? They generaly arrange transport for people who need it. The service has been cut back recently, but it's still in place for oncology (cancer) services AFAIK. I'm not exactly sure how you access it, but the hospital would be the place to start.
