honda accord 2001, any ideas on squeaking noise.

When moving off from a standing position my car makes for what can only be described as a squeaking noise. When I select first gear and put my foot on accelerator you get a squeak, when you select 2nd and put foot on accelerator you can a squeak though not a pronounsed as when choosing first. It is fine for the rest of the gears. I have tries to be very gentle on the accelerator but I still get the squeak. The very odd time it is not there.

it sounds as it could be coming from the wheels try to get a grip but the tyres are grand.

Anybody any ideas as I want to be able to make suggestions to the mechanic.
 
didn't Honda have an ad on TV a few years ago where the driver was going mad trying to find a squeak in the car while he was driving and it turned out to be his girlfriends ear-ring sqeaking.....

I'd be taking it back........!!!!!!
 
It could be the exhaust pipe to manifold joint squeaking as the engine rocks on its engine mountings as the clutch bites.Also it could be a weak engine mount allowing too much movement in the first place.
 
thanks Caff. thanks for that. I'll say this to the machanic when I drop it in for a service. it will sound as if I know what I am talking about.
