hi long time reader first time poster. I know this issue has been discussed before & there is no simple answer but I would be very grateful for any advice.
I am shortly to begin building a 2500 sq foot house & am totally at a loss regarding the best heating system to use. I have decided to go with solar panels for hot water & a heat recovery system. however I am unsure what system to use for the main heating system. gas is not an option & I have decided against a wood pellet burner. I dont have the space for a standard geo thermal system. Basically the choice as I see it are an air to water heat pump with underfloor heating & rads upstairs versus a wood burning stove with back boiler to heat the rads with a condensing oil burner as back up. I have heard the air to water heat pump can be very hard on electricity ??? any help would be greatly appreciated.
