hi all
is there a website that shows home heating oil price comparisons or will I just have to ring around to see what the currrent price is.
I know its gone up a huge amount so just am trying to get the best deal so I can fill the tank for the winter.
PS I am based in Dublin
thanks

I rang around last week and got prices from 86c to €1 a litre. I live in the border area but ringing around definately works. Hope the price has come down a bit this week by the way, must order some!
Just ordered mine online from www.Emo.ie ordering online is much cheaper then calling them I noticed Emo adjust there price per litre to reflect the dollar price in oil. I would order today if possible as I have, the open price on the barrel was $123.41 today now it stands at $124.81 its great to see the price of oil come down any tiny bit but not enough, if you watch this price carefully then you can guess or at least Emo price should be around the same after the vat is included off course. There is another website called www.oil-price.net if you want to keep an eye on the latest US price per barrel.
This is the way I work the latest price out is which is open to correction.
Latest Barrel price is $124.81 / 1.58 exchange rate=78.99cent + 13.5% vat =.8965cent per litre, which Emo's website is showing at .8904 therefore I would think there prices are pretty ok, however if the US barrel price keep increasing and it will, by using the above pattern you can see it will get more expensive for us oil users.
The above is a simple exercise I was working on, I have no connection with Emo or any other oil companies/supplies etc...

Do oil barrels not infer Crude oil? So price of 1 barrel of crude oil = price of 1 litre of home heating oil delivered to our door? At the moment this seems to be the case.
